Post Review #3

I am pretty excited about today’s post review. I stumbled upon a few new blogs that I have never read before. Although there are not many listed this week (I read quite a bit of posts, I just did not find many that upheld the “clarify & simplify your life” theme. I hope you will go to the blog posts listed below and read them.

Post Review #2.5

Day 2 of the Build Your Blog Conference (#BYBC) was exactly what I needed to hear. As with yesterday, I will review some of the things I learned from the workshops I attended at this conference. I will not share everything since it would take too long. But check the conference out and the people who taught the workshops. As I began to write this post, I was overwhelmed with a feeling of gratitude for those who were willing to share all they have learned on their journey to success in life and work. As I looked around the conference, I was uplifted by the excitement and relief I saw in the faces of my fellow conferencees as they finally received the guidance they needed to up-level. (more…)

Today’s post review is a little different than last week’s because I am attending a blogging conference this weekend (Build Your Blog Conference). Today is Day One of the two day conference. I am currently there and it has been extremely helpful. I want to review some of the things I have learned from this conference. (more…)

3 Simple Steps to Change your Attitude this Valentines Day.

Sometimes we focus on all the trials and negative things happening in our lives.  For instance with today being Valentines day, there are those who cannot look beyond the fact that they don’t have that special someone to celebrate this holiday of love. It can be the most depressing time of the year for many people. Negativity just leads to more negativity. Then our attitudes are crappy and we have a hard time achieving success, happiness, as well as finding love. But whenever I start feeling this way I step back and realize that I am a very lucky woman. There a few things I like to do in order to change my attitude. I contribute my success in life and love to these steps. When I was single, I loved it. I feel that it is because I did that I currently am beyond happy with my spouse. It was all a matter of attitude. Here are three of the simple steps that I take that I would like to share with you to help you step back and appreciate life.

1. Spend at least 5 minutes during the day contemplating all the great things you have in your life. This could include something as everyday (at least in certain regions) as being able to take a hot shower (I love me some hot, long showers). What do you love about life, yourself, your circumstances, the many different types of relationships that you currently have in your life? Valentines day, for me, has always been about more than just romantic love.

2. Once a week or once a month, depending on your availability, perform an act of kindness. I read a blog post a while back about a lady who would leave a small gift (besides tip) on her table for the waiter who served her. Can you imagine how touched that waiter probably was? Perhaps that gift changed the course of his whole day.

3. Go out to lunch with family or friends and make a conscious effort to listen more than you speak. It’s easy to forget your problems when you’re focus on someone else. Then you spend time just enjoying someone’s company and laughing. By the time you’re done with lunch, your heart will be lifted and it will be easy to see the good that you have in your life. Plan an event today with your friends and or family members. Do something to show them you love and care about them. You will feel loved and cared about in return.

Although these actions are simple to perform, don’t underestimate their powerful impact. And impact is what you need to change an attitude of negativity or ingratitude to one of positivity, hope, gratitude, confidence, love, and joy. Any success you have or hope to gain in life and in business will be based on your attitude. It will help you to live free and fulfilled.

Posts That Clarifies & Simplifies Your Life. (Post Review #1)

I am an avid reader. I spend  a majority of my time (besides with family) reading books, blog posts, and magazines. I stumble upon great information that helps me improve all areas of my life. These books, posts, and articles help me gain clarity (hence why it improves my life). Whenever I find articles that would be helpful to someone I know, I e-mail it to them or tell them about it.

That is why I’ve decided to have one of the two posts I publish on this website be about great articles I’ve found that week (a post review) that will clarify and simplify your life. Instead of publishing on Wednesdays and Saturdays like I was, I will be publishing every Friday and Saturday. Friday will be my post review day. Although it will focus on things that will aid you in business, since part of the purpose of this blog is simplifying life & work, there will also be post about other areas of life.

Sarah Jenks’s post, “I want to help you with your business,” offers wonderful insights that we can all benefit from. I love the seven steps she lists in the post on how to start and become successful in business.

Grace Bonney, owner of Canoe wrote a wonderful article called “What It’s Like to Quit A Day Job to Start Your Own Business.” The article is about how to decide when it’s time to leave your corporate job to pursue establishing or growing your own business. I loved how she took her time organizing her mind before making a decision.

Simple Green Smoothies “Skinny Mint Green Smoothie.” I am a big fan of delicious green smoothies. I believe drinking green smoothies promotes healthy growth. You cannot go wrong with this recipe.

A beautiful Mess “15 Easy and Healthy Recipes for the New Year.” I love the words easy and healthy in a recipe. Although I love to cook, finding time to make elaborate meals is difficult when I have limited time to do it. That is why I loved this post by the Beautiful Mess sisters. They give you very clear and concise ways to follow their recipe.

Sarah Von Bargen’s article “Fix Your Time Estimates, Make More Money.” When I first began freelancing I had the hardest time coming up with my prices. I still do. This article goes over one of the most important aspects of pricing, your time.

These are the six that made the list this week. Come back again next Friday to see the topics and articles that I found that will clarify your life and work.

When I first began my business, I received a phone call from a client who was interested in getting a quote about some work he would like me to do for him.  I was extremely excited and, as you can imagine, nervous. I just kept thinking about how this account could increase my income tremendously. I spent the whole phone call trying to figure out a price in my head as he described the project. I hung up the phone feeling sad and unsatisfied. I could not figure out why since I was not rejected for the project.
