When I first started my business, I was determined to spend as little as possible launching and growing it. I was not going to spend money on marketing, coaches, courses, or networking. For months, I did not spend anything on my business except for buying a domain name, and a WordPress theme. I was going to be as smart about my business as possible.
Wrong decision. (more…)

Like me, you might be a sensitive entrepreneur. You might get a little sensitive about criticism. It’s something that I’ve been working on for years. And I can honestly say I’ve gotten much, much better at it. As an entrepreneur, I’ve realized that good feedback will only help your business for a time before it loses its value. Since I’ve acted on my entrepreneurial spirit, I have found two reasons why having negative feedback is good for your business. (more…)
I love Periscope! Periscope is a video sharing app made by Twitter (March 2015) that allows you to live broadcasts to your Twitter followers and anyone else who wants to join. What this means is that people are watching you and interacting with you live. I’ve loved making videos on it as well as interacting with some of my favorite brands. There are three advantages to using Periscope.
After I had my baby, I did not want to take pictures or record videos. A major block for my business and life.
In life because I did not want to take family pictures until I had lost the weight from having a baby. The photographer we picked was going to take newborn pics as well as family pics.
In business because it took me forever to do my headshots. And I did not want to remodel my website without it which delayed upgrading the site. And because I did not want to send people to my old and unprofessional (at least for me) website, I stopped advertising. It was a vicious cycle. (more…)
As creatives, we love what we do. We would not do it otherwise. For that reason, we love sharing our joy with other people. There are numerous methods we use to aid others in feeling the joy we do. But one of the many ways is aiding others in achieving their dreams. Tell me if you think this scenario is familiar. You encounter someone who starts telling you all about the special project they’re interested in. This project happens to be in an area of your expertise. Therefore, you offer your services. They can’t pay you because they’re just getting started or are just low on funds. Your desire to help them accomplish this project is so profound that you offer your services for free. I can’t even begin to tell you how often I’ve done this. I become so excited to support someone in finding or developing a deeper sense of self or happiness because they are finally in the path they have always wanted to be. What if I don’t get paid? The joy I get out of it was worth it.
If only that feeling lasted. (more…)
One day I was super stressed because I needed to write and format my post, newsletter, as well as some other writing assignments I had. But my baby was sick and clingy. I could not get anything done. How was I suppose to grow a successful business with a sick baby? (more…)

“We impose [on others] burdens of our own emotional past,” said Dr. Shefali Tsabary, a clinical psychologist who writes about parenting. I have been thinking a lot about one of the books she wrote, “The Conscious Parent”. Although the title of the book has the word “parent” in it, it is useful to anyone (whether you are a parent or have parents). She talks about people interact and relate to each other, especially the parent-child relationship. We all seem to have a desire to either raise our kids the way we were raised or completely different. Either way, we are making our children vessels of our pain, joy and experiences, according to the book. According to her, we do it unconsciously. (more…)
We are finally up and running, like promised! The website has experienced a few cosmetic changes but not too much.
I’m excited to bring you all new content and resources. I have been interviewing mompreneurs from all over the world and will be posting them soon (audio & video), so make sure you are subscribed to the e-mail list to be the first to know when the interviews have been uploaded.
One more change that is going to occur is that instead of posting on Saturdays, I will be posting and sending out the newsletter on Wednesdays.
Thanks for your patience throughout these changes!
